Nepal’s PM resigns
Even mountaineering is not immune from the politics beneath the mountain. The Wall Street Journal reports today that Pushpa Kamal Dahal resigned in protest over the overturning of his firing of the Nepal’s head of the army. Here’s hoping Nepal does not again descend into unrest. Interesting that mountain regions have tended to be unstable politically since ancient times, and all three major approaches to the Himalays, Tibet, Nepal and Pakistan are not looking especially inviting at the moment. Here’s hoping it is all temporary. Ed Viesturs noted his his recent bio that he did not intend to go back to Paksitan to climb at any point soon.
